# Launch names for "Paw Patch" (codename): preliminary pre-check

> **PRELIMINARY PRE-CHECK, NOT LEGAL CLEARANCE.** These checks come from free public sources, run on 23 Oct 2026 at about 03:15 (Asia/Jerusalem). Before committing to a name, a trademark attorney should run a full clearance search: US, EU, Israel and the other launch markets, including phonetic and design similarity.

## How each check was run
- **USPTO:** I queried the public Trademark Search backend at https://tmsearch.uspto.gov (the same index the search page uses). For each name I ran three queries:
  1. the exact phrase in any class or status;
  2. both words together in a live mark in IC 009 or IC 041;
  3. live IC 009 or IC 041 marks that start with the distinctive word (the closest ones are listed).
- **EUIPO:** **unknown for every name.** Connections to euipo.europa.eu (eSearch) and tmdn.org (TMview) were reset from my machine (HTTP 000), so no EU search was run.
- **App Store:** the iTunes Search API, US store, top 8 results for the name: https://itunes.apple.com/search?term=NAME&country=us&entity=software
- **Google Play:** a Play web search (US, English), top 8 results.
- **.com domain:** the Verisign RDAP lookup at https://rdap.verisign.com/com/v1/domain/NAME.com. A 404 means not registered; a 200 means registered. A free domain could still be priced as premium, which is unknown.
- **TikTok:** I loaded https://www.tiktok.com/@handle. Status code 10221 means no such user; status 0 with a matching uniqueId means the handle is taken. I calibrated this against @supercell (taken).
- **YouTube:** I loaded https://www.youtube.com/@handle. A 404 means free; a 200 means taken.
- **Instagram:** **unknown for every name.** The public profile page returns the same generic shell (title "Instagram") whether or not the account exists, including for a nonsense handle.
- **Search terms:** taken from /workspace/games/market/paw-patch-aso.md (US autocomplete on both stores, 22 to 23 Oct 2026).
- **Ad lines:** these are my suggestions, not tested.

**The "Queens" word:**
- Live 9/41 marks containing "queens" number 152. They include QUEENS (bowling and fonts, unrelated) and **QUEENS MASTER (SN 99343602, Kwalee Ltd, class 9 game software, notice of allowance issued)**.
- "Queens" is also the name of LinkedIn's daily puzzle (Play autocomplete suggests "queens game linkedin").
- [Inference] As a word for the puzzle type it reads descriptively: Queenzle, Queens: Logic Puzzles, Queendom and Queens Master all use it. Still, a "X Queens" name should never copy Kwalee's or LinkedIn's styling, and counsel should confirm it.

**The "Grid" word:** 215 live 9/41 marks contain "grid" (for example GAME GRID and IMMACULATE GRID). [Inference] "Grid" on its own is weak and descriptive; the distinctive part of these names is the first word.

## Name by name

### 1. Snooze Queens (TOP 1)
- **Concept fit:** sleepy animals each need their own nap spot. That matches the rules: one animal per patch, row and column, and no touching.
- **Search terms caught:** "queens game", "queens puzzle", "queens logic puzzle" (in iOS and Play autocomplete, and the core intent of the genre); "cozy queens game" (iOS autocomplete).
- **Ad read [suggestion]:** "Every kitty needs its own nap spot. Can you fit them all?" Two strong words; "Snooze" sets the mood and "Queens" names the genre.
- **Risk:** the "Queens" notes above.
- **Verdict:** best ASO plus brand balance, and every check that could run came back clear.

### 2. Snooze Grid (TOP 2)
- **Concept fit:** the same nap-spot world without "Queens", so it survives if "Queens" ever becomes a problem.
- **Search terms caught:** "grid" appears in "pet puzzle grid" and "star battle: grid logic puzzle" (iOS autocomplete). The main genre term "queens" has to go in the subtitle or short description instead.
- **Ad read [suggestion]:** "Snooze Grid: tuck every pet into its own cozy patch." Short and readable as an icon wordmark.
- **Verdict:** the cleanest name on every check and the safest fallback, but weaker for ASO than #1.

### 3. Burrow Queens
- **Concept fit:** each animal finds its own burrow (region).
- **Search terms caught:** "queens game" and "queens puzzle".
- **Ad read [suggestion]:** "One bunny per burrow. No neighbours touching."
- **Risk:** WINTER BURROW is a pending video-game mark, but the overlap is only on the word "burrow" [Inference: low].
- **Verdict:** strong backup with a different root word; fits bunnies and foxes better than cats.

### 4. Snuggle Grid
- **Search terms caught:** "cute puzzle games" and "cozy" intent (iOS and Play autocomplete). The name itself doesn't contain a top keyword.
- **Ad read [suggestion]:** very warm.
- **Risk:** SNUGGLE is also a well-known fabric-softener brand [Inference; not checked in class 3].
- **Verdict:** clear on every check, but likely to bring brand-dilution questions and catches weak ASO terms.

### 5. Purr Grid
- **Search terms caught:** cat intent ("cat puzzle game" and "cat sudoku" in autocomplete) and "grid".
- **Ad read [suggestion]:** a punchy 2-syllable name, but cats only.
- **Risk:** YouTube @purrgrid is taken, and "Purrfect Grid: Cat Puzzle" already exists on Play.
- **Verdict:** confusingly close to an existing cat-grid puzzle.

### 6. Fluff Queens

- **Verdict:** the .com is gone and the name is generic sounding; weakest.
